Windowpane Granny Square Pattern
This pattern is called a window pane granny square because of the window look in the very middle of the square, I decided that it would be cool to also implement the different granny styles in one square. Some people prefer the solid ones, some the traditional but hey, why not use both? Well I hope you have fun crocheting these and making awesome projects with them. In the future I shall make this tutorial more detailed but for now I just want to get it out there.

To begin Chain 4 and slip stitch in to the first chain to form a ring. Chain 8, double crochet in ring. Chain 6, double crochet in ring, chain 6 double crochet in ring, Finally chain 6 but instead of double crocheting in the ring, you will join with a slip stitch at the second chain from the bottom of the 8 to form the last double crochet.

At this point if you are joining a new color, chain one, yarn over with the new color and pull through the loop, secure the new color by pulling the old color tightly, and chain 3 or if not just chain 3 with the same old color.

Do 2 double crochets in the space where you just chained 3, chain one, *3 double crochet in the corner, chain 2, 3 more double crochet in the same space, chain 1. 3 double crochet in the previous single crochet, chain one* and repeat from *. Once you get to the end of the row join with a slip stitch at the top of the beginning chain 3.

Once again, if you are changing colors do so & chain 3. One double crochet in each double crochet, one double crochet in the previous chain 1 space, one double crochet in each double crochet across the row, once you get to the corner, 3 double crochet in the corner, chain 2, 3 more double crochet in the same space, keep doing this until you get all the way around again and join at the top of the 3rd chain.

Now with new color, or old color whichever you would like, chain 4, **skip one double crochet from the previous row and double crochet in the next double crochet, chain 1** keep doing this until you get to the corner, once you are at the corner, 1 double crochet, chain 2, 1 double crochet, then chain one, and repeat from ** and do the same thing for all of the corners. Once you get around join in the 3rd chain of the beginning chain 4, the 3rd not the 4th.

One the last and final row you are simply going to be single crocheting all the way around either in a new color or the same one. Pretty much chain one as your step up to begin the row, 1 single crochet in the double crochets, and 1 single crochet in the chain 1 spaces, for the corners do 3 single crochet chain 2 and 3 more single crochet. Join with a slip stitch in the beginning chain 1, chain one and fasten off. Weave in all of your ends and you are done. This square measures 5.5 inches.
